A lawyer who’s an officer or a member of such a company does not thereby have a client-lawyer relationship with persons served by the group. However, there’s potential conflict between the interests of such persons and the pursuits of the lawyer’s clients. If the potential of such conflict disqualified a lawyer from serving on the board of a legal services organization, the profession’s involvement in such organizations can be severely curtailed. Where the availability of law-related companies is subject to these Rules, the promotion of the law-related services should also in all respects comply with Rules 7.2, through 7.5, dealing with promoting and solicitation.
